For instance, you can't be sure that your guide camera/scope can work with your setup. However in astronomy, a very technical hobby where items don't always work, returns are often needed. I understand smaller shops have to compensate for lost $ with opened items. This is a problem, especially if you're buying very expensive items, that 10-20% restocking fee can quickly add up to hundreds of dollars. They also charge 10-15% above market value on amazon to compensate for amazons cut. the owner used to be a memebr of our astro club before he moved to start eh business a few years ago. On amazon, they will slap on a restocking fee even if you returned the item unopened. In today's online shopping space, there are many companies to purchase from whose business model accommodates the remote customer's need exchange something. I did a lot of research prior to my purchase and thought I was getting what I wanted, but after I received them, they were just too heavy. ![]() The buying experience was good but I did not like the binoculars. ![]() I bought my first pair of binoculars for birding from Agena.
